What To Watch After You Jailbreak Firestick?
Game of Thrones streams may draw 10 million viewers online, but White Walkers are not for everyone. It is also not something kids should watch, even if they may want to. Before you go crazy after you jailbreak Firestick and download every streaming app in sight, you will want to keep one simple thing in mind – Firestick storage space.
By nature, streaming sticks do not come with much storage out of the box, and most do not allow you to expand. Amazon Firestick is no exception. That means you need to think before downloading (after you jailbreak Firestick) or you will find yourself on the short end of that streaming stick.
All those other apps you have downloaded like Netflix, Hulu or even ES File Explorer take up space as well. By itself, Kodi is a somewhat lightweight app (around 90MB), but that changes once you factor in the add-ons and extras. A fully installed Kodi build can take up 500MB (that’s half a gig) or more!
If you feel storage will be a concern, you should consider streaming apps that cover a lot of ground before looking at ones geared towards specialty streams. Most provide the same general type of content, so you may be able to find what you are looking for by only using a few apps.
One key thing to remember after you jailbreak Firestick is the fact that Amazon Fire Stick has limited storage space.
You will want to keep backups handy however due to the nature of the streaming game.
What Do You Need to Jailbreak Firestick?
- An Amazon account: To setup an Amazon account, go to https://www.amazon.com/. Amazon requires an Amazon account when purchasing an Amazon Firestick, then automatically registers the Fire Stick to this account.
High Speed Internet: Make sure the internet speed is fast enough to prevent buffering delays. To elaborate, a fast Internet connection proves beneficial when watching streamed videos. So, your Internet speed should preferably be more than ten megabytes per second (10Mb/sec). If you don’t know how fast your Internet is, then go to https://speedtest.net to test it.
HDMI input port on your TV: Make sure your television set has an HDMI connection port. This port will help connect the HDMI cable to the television set. The modern television set model incorporates this port feature.
Lastly, you need an HDMI extension cable (Male to Female): A good HDMI cable should be able to extend far from the television set. This will help to maintain a stable Wi-Fi reception because the fire stick will be far from the television set. Fortunately, when you buy a Firestick from Amazon, it comes with an HDMI cable in the box! Unfortunately, the included HDMI extension cable stretches a mere few inches. You also receive the power adapter to power the Firestick and the Fire TV Remote to control the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
How To Jailbreak Firestick?
Unlocking your streaming sticks full capabilities can be as simple as allowing downloads and installs from unknown sources. It can also be quite difficult if you decide to travel down the Kodi road and don’t know the scene yet. We will help you out in either case whether you want to try something new like FileLinked or prefer classics like FireDL and the Downloader to jailbreak Firestick apps. Those last two are still great options, but sometimes simplicity is the best way to go.
Jailbreak Firestick with FileLinked
We have discussed sideloading through apps through various means at length here on KodiFireTVStick, but this time around we are going to kick things off with an app called FileLinked – formerly DroidAdmin. The program is extremely easy to use, and while it handles things a little differently, you will not need to worry about a Firestick brick when using this handy Android app.
This app allows you to download multiple files at once and takes typing long URLs out of the equation. Even with the new Alexa voice remote, it can still be difficult to find what you want without typing. FileLinked takes care of that issue in short order although the code-based setup may take some getting used to if you are used to programs like the Downloader app, Apps2Fire or another sideloading method.
The FileLinked APK is easy to download as well considering you don’t have to jump to Google Play or “shoot” anything to your streamer from a phone or tablet. You can download this one directly from the Amazon App Store, and it uses a simple, but unique system involving codes.
Google trackers are lurking on 75% of websites. Cover your tracks to protect yourself.
To jailbreak Firestick using FileLinked, head to the Amazon App Store and download the program. Once it’s ready to go, you simply need to fire up the app and enter a code to head to a new kind of app store. While it may seem confusing at first, those codes send you to a repository of sorts that can have a single file or dozens of them. As you can see by the screenshot below, many of the FileLinked APK stores are packed to the brim with streaming goodies…
When you find a streaming app you like, you simply need to click the download button and wait. Once the download is complete, you will need to install the app so don’t back out just yet. Click the app again, and now you will see the familiar Android installation screen. Click install, and once it has completed the process, the app is loaded in your Firestick and ready to stream. Jailbreak Firestick apps are plentiful (at the moment) so be wary of ones you haven’t heard of, and check in with the community when all else fails.
Remember, when you are in an APK store, check everything out and write down the code. Once you back out, you are prompted to enter a new code, so it pays to keep track of the ones you like. That said, just like with Kodi addons, what’s here today may be down tomorrow so you may want to keep a running list of jailbroken Firestick apps.
Another cool feature of FileLinked is the fact it lets you make your very own APK store and share files with the masses if you choose. If this is something you are interested in, check out this tutorial which shows you how to make your own codes and install FileLinked as well.

Jailbreak Firestick With Downloader
Step 1: Install Downloader
First we install the Downloader app on your Firestick.
Notice: Hackers create fake WiFi hotspots to steal your passwords when you log in to Starbucks WiFi. Secure your data.
- Select the Search icon in the top left part of the Firestick home screen
- Enter the word “downloader” into the Search box
- Select Downloader by navigating to it and then press the Center button on the Firestick remote
- In the search results, under Apps & Games, select Downloader
- Press Download
- Then press Open to launch Downloader
Now that Downloader is installed, we use it to install APK Time.
Step 2: Install APKTime
Now we install our app store: APK time.
- In Downloader, enter the address http://bit.ly/apktimeforfirestick
- Then press Go
- When Firestick launches the APK Time installer, press Install
- Then press Open after APKTime is finished installing
Now that APK Time is installed, we use APK Time to install our first set of apps.
APKTime Bug Alert (Minor): There seems to be a bug in APKTime which can be confusing. Basically, this happens when you scroll down and then want to scroll back up. But APKTime won’t let you scroll up until you press the Down button once first. Be aware of this and just deal with it – it’s worth it.
Step 3: Install Apps from APKTime
To install apps from APK Time, just use the steps below:
- Search for an app or navigate to an interesting content category in APK Time
- Now scroll down until you see the app you’re looking for
- Press the Download button and wait for the installer to launch
- Then press Install
- When the app is finished installing, select Done
- Repeat steps 2 through 5 with new apps
For example, free TV Show and Movie apps can be found under the Entertainment section:
- Freeflix HQ
- OneBox HD
And there are some great Live TV Apps under APKTime’s Live section:
- Freeflix TV
- Live Lounge
- Live NetTV
- Redbox TV
- TV Tap Pro – Firestick and Android Boxes
And as a bonus, here are the best Music apps from APKTime’s music section:
- TuneIn Radio
Check out the next section to find out top Firestick Jailbreak app recommendations from both Downloader and FileLinked.
Installing Movies and TV apps
Streaming movies and TV shows is more popular than ever today, and there are dozens of free streaming apps available for jailbreak Firestick. While there are dedicated apps that give you the best of both worlds, some provide you with everything you need from one Android .apk file.
The streaming apps below are all tested and approved by the staff here at KodiFireTVStick. Most of these are ad-based although there are some modded .apk’s and Lite versions that are made to deal with those pesky ads.
Our top option when it comes to an all-in-one solution for your streaming needs is Terrarium TV.As the name implies, they provide an ample amount of content for the small screen. They also have plenty of free movies to peruse and one feature that gives it a leg up amongst hardcore streamers even if it may confuse beginners.
We’ve talked about Terrarium TV before at length, and to date, it has been one of the more reliable streaming apps. It is also one of the easier apps to navigate on your Fire TV and jailbroken Firestick. Both the TV and movie sections are broken down several different ways, so finding your favorites is a quick and painless affair. We also like the fact you set watchlists of sorts for content you want to intend to view later.
While some streaming apps stick you with a 720p or 480p stream, Terrarium TV gives you a few more options. You can choose the source by the provider and see the file sizes as well. That’s a feature you don’t see on too many apps of this nature, and a welcome sight for more experienced streamers. The only downside would be ads and the dreaded YesPlayer. The latter is not necessary, and not recommended so don’t be fooled. There are also a slew of updates which is normally a good thing but can feel excessive with Terrarium TV at times.
Terrarium TV is available in standalone form if you want to install it on other Android-based devices. If you prefer the FileLinked method, you can use either of these codes.
This streaming app may resemble a half-dozen others, but FreeFlix is a top-notch option if you dig free movies and TV shows. While it has plenty of those available, that’s not necessarily where this one shines. FreeFlix HQ has a few different areas that help set it apart and put it right behind our top option as the best overall streaming app for jailbrake Firestick.
Firestick Tip: FreeFlix HQ is a favorite among people who jailbreak Firestick and use streaming apps.
Need to check the TV schedule to see when your favorite show is coming up? You can do simple things like that from FreeFlix HQ or dive straight into the content. Sure, you can watch hundreds of movies and TV shows, but you can also access sections for wrestling, anime, cartoons and even Live TV. How much is actually watchable is hit or miss, but that’s par for the course with these types of apps.
When you do settle on something to view, you can go about that in a few ways. This app gives you an option when it comes to servers which varied between one and five from our time with FreeFlix. After you pick the server, you can choose the streaming quality as long as there are multiple options for the stream. Just like with Terrarium TV, you can choose from 1080p all the way down to lower quality streams if buffering is an issue.
Want to download instead of stream? That’s an option with FreeFlix HQ although we advise you to use a VPN when going that route. Streaming is generally considered a gray area, downloading – not so much. If you want to give the FreeFlix HQ app a shot, it is available as a single .apk or through the FileLinked code below.
ShowBox is a popular app that’s been around for what equates to decades in the streaming app world. That is a hard feat to accomplish, but far from the only one ShowBox is capable of. It’s another app we consider extremely reliable although there are a few drawbacks when running it from your Fire TV instead of a handset or slate.
The ShowBox app provides users with content both old and new. You can scroll through hundreds of options on the TV side of things, and there are plenty of movies to peruse as well. They do not have anywhere near the amount of free movies as TTV offers up although they tend to get new HD releases quicker compared to our top choice and other competitors.
In addition to the usual sections, there is a News feature to go along with sections for Favorites and Movie Trailers. If you are a bit geeky, you will appreciate the news section. You can find out who’s playing your favorite comic book character or stumble across tidbits on adaptions like The Fall of Gondolin – a new J.R.R. Tolkien book. The news is varied, but always in the media niche and updated throughout the day.
With streaming, your options are limited so you can’t go with UHD or even full 1080p although the 720p streams are rock solid. The ShowBox app is available as a standalone app which you can pick up and install through one of our sideloading methods. If you prefer ease of use, you can get it through the FileLinked code.
Appflix may not have the name recognition of other streamers on our jailbreak Firestick app list, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking them out. They have a clean layout that is easy on the eyes and simple to navigate. Between content for the big and small screens, we do not think you will have a problem finding something to watch with Appflix.
When you fire up Appflix, you are taken straight to the Movies section. It is filled with a nice selection of films, old and new, and broken down in a variety of ways. You can browse through sections like Popular, Now Playing and Top Rated or simply go by genre. The Discover section of the TV area has the same layout – both areas are a breeze to navigate.
As for the extras, Appflix comes with the usual flair. That means you can set favorites for movies and TV shows or check out your downloaded content. That’s right; you can download anything you come across just in case you want a copy for posterity. There are no real options to speak of, but the fact you can choose your provider, the language, and subtitles more make that minor blow easier to take.
Like the rest of our top choices, Appflix is an app you will want to use with a VPN. It’s free to download the old-fashioned way or through one of our FileLinked codes.
Now we’re going to take a look at an app that sets itself apart from the rest when it comes to the overall design. Morpheus TV keeps things minimal, and the result is a unique interface that’s you will enjoy on your Fire stick or Fire TV 4K.
Morpheus TV only has four sections to contend with. While that may sound like a downer, you will be pleasantly surprised. From the main screen, you can select from Movies or TV shows which is where the content resides. There is a section for any files you have downloaded and settings as well. The latter allows you to adjust providers and tweak a variety of settings.
Both the Movies and TV sections have areas for Trending and Popular content. You will find current flicks and series here or can search for anything you would like with the trusty magnifying glass icon. If you are a Trackt user, you will appreciate the Collection and Watchlist sections. The actual sections are simple to navigate as well thanks to a series of poster-style icons.
The design is what caught our attention with Morpheus TV, but we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the streams. The app allows you to pick your poison as it searches for streams, so you get a choice when it comes to the video quality from SD all the way up to Full HD. This popular app can be downloaded and sideloaded through an app, or you can use one of the FileLinked codes below.
Looking for a streaming app after you jailbreak Firestick that can give you all the new releases but has plenty of solid HD content as well? Bobby Movie has both of those bases covered. They have a large library of TV shows as well and a layout that’s easy on the eyes if you like to stream in the dark.
Bobby Movie’s layout is similar to most streaming apps. There are large tiles to browse through, but the interface itself is blacked out. It’s in a permanent Night Mode in a sense, and we are fans of the oversized poster tiles as well. On the downside, there are no settings to tweak and no real choice when it comes to the quality of the streams.
While Bobby Movie is lacking in a few areas, it is one to definitely have in your arsenal even if it isn’t your daily driver. They do not disappoint when it comes to new material although things get slim when you get into some of the older films and TV shows. Overall, it’s a reliable option that will be around long after other streaming apps have faltered.
Installing Live TV Apps
When you jailbreak Firestick apps to work with your television set, Live TV is one of the first things many media nuts want to try. It is also one of the harder things to accomplish on your Fire TV for various reasons. We had to dig deep, but here are the top Live TV apps for Fire TV and the Firestick.
If you’ve been in the streaming world for a while, there is a strong chance you have heard of or used Modboro. That’s because it’s an excellent program and one that tends to stay at the forefront of the scene thanks to solid, consistent updates. Needless to say, it’s an excellent jailbreak Firestick app.
The minds behind Modboro built this baby for the big screen as it looks great on TVs and is easy to navigate. All of the sections are laid out across the top of the screen in easy to read tiles. The adjustments for all the settings are right below that, and while it isn’t fancy, it is the ideal setup for fast and easy streaming. When you are ready to dig into the content, you are going to be blown away.
From animals and podcasts to live cams showing the Eiffel Tower, this app has it all. You can take a vacation without ever leaving the couch or simply catch up on shows you missed last week. The app pulls free video streams from around the web, so the content is varied and changes frequently. At this time, the main categories consist of Channels, News, Shows, Movies, Sports, Music, Gaming, Tech, Spiritual, Podcasts, and Animals.
Mobdro works on a variety of Android-based devices but really shines on the streamers known as the Firestick and Fire TV 4K. We also like the fact you can set a parental filter with this streaming app or set streams to only appear in the language of your choice. You can pick up Modboro through a variety of methods including the codes below.
Pocket TV is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to streaming apps. You can pick this one up directly from Google Play although it is not available through the Amazon App Store. That’s where FileLinked or sideloading apps step in, and you will be thankful for that once you see what Pocket TV brings to the table. After you jailbreak Firestick, install Pocket TV and you’ll be happy.
This streaming app for the Firestick pulls streams from YouTube and other content that doesn’t necessarily reside in the grey area of streaming. This includes Live TV from all over the globe with locations like Pakistan, South India, the UK, Germany, France and the U.S. Those are just a handful of the regions available through Pocket TV, and most major regions are represented from a language standpoint.
When you select a region, things really open up. For example, the UK tab features channels like BBC News and BBC Three or cable staples like Discovery, TCM, and VH1. As you would expect there are plenty of Sky channels to choose from as well and that is just one region. When you tire of live TV streaming, there are also sections for Songs, Movies, Sports, Wild Life, Religious and a Kids Zone Live section.
Like many apps of this nature, Pocket TV is ad-supported, so you will have to find the “X” to get rid of those pesky ads as they appear. Aside from that, it’s a great choice for Live TV if you want a global mix or want to catch live sports on the fly.
Exodus Live TV
If you are looking for an app that gives you an endless stream of live TV feeds and actually delivers, look no further than Exodus Live TV. It is hands down one of the best streaming apps today, and it is definitely worthy of a spot on our jailbreak Firestick apps list as well.
Exodus Live TV is unique in the sense that it focuses on live TV, not shows that have already aired or films. While you will find a section for the latter, it is minimal compared to other apps and can’t be sorted traditionally. Again, old content is not the goal of this particular app. If you want to find content by a particular region, there are options therefor Caribbean & African, UK & Canada, and the U.S.
When it comes to the actual channels, there are far too many to list and those are sorted by category. We don’t think anyone will have an issue finding their favorite channel considering the top options are listed along with interesting oddballs like Gem Travel, Beach TV, NDTV, Pregnancy Workout, Info Wars, and even Hustler.
The wide variety of content is what initially drew us to the Exodus Live TV app. It lives up to its namesake in that department, but we also appreciate how easy to use it is. There’s no clutter or millions of menus to scroll through. You simply need to scroll or use the search function to find your shows.
When an app has “Live TV” in their moniker, they had better live up to the hype. Thankfully, Live NetTV does just that by providing content through a variety of streams in several different languages. While there are hundreds of channels to surf, that’s not why this app made the cut.
The Live TV section of this app is one of the best, and we’ll get to it soon enough. First, we want to talk about two special sections with Live Events and VOD. The Live Events section is where you can watch sports from around the globe. If you dig things like Rugby, Soccer and Tennis there is plenty to pick through. We even noticed a few MLB games, and we’re pleased to say those streams were speedy.
As for VOD, that’s the video on demand section which is filled full of free flicks. The content is the same that you will find through other apps of this nature with one exception. You can scroll through by language so there is English along with Hindi Dubbed, Punjabi Movies, Indian Movies and Animated films. The Live TV section has a similar setup with regional media in addition to sections for things like Cooking, News, and Entertainment.
Live NetTV is one of the better options if you are looking for global content or English is not your first language. It excels with foreign feeds, and we like the array of settings as well. Being able to hide or rearrange the layout is a perk we’d like to see more of and a welcome feature to have on hand.
Installing Sports Apps
You don’t have to look hard to find a solid streaming app for free movies and TV shows. We can say the same for other areas as well with the exception of sports. There are some good channels and sections built into other apps, but dedicated sports apps are few and far between.
Our experts found the best currently available, and most cover the major sports along with ones that aren’t quite as popular. Regardless of your where your fandom lies, these apps will ensure you never miss a game or event again.
Sports nuts can have a hard time finding their favorite club on TV when they live on the other side of the globe. The same goes for globetrotters that hate to miss a game while they are on the road. There is a solution however in the form of PTV Sport which ensures you will never miss out on the action again.
Whether you live in the United States or Romania, the PTV Sport app has a stream for you. Content varies by location which you can select by section from the top of the screen. You will be able to find your stream within a matter of minutes although there are some notable locales missing from the list at this time.
All the major markets are represented, and the same can be said for the sports. A few couldn’t be checked as they are out of season, but Boxing, Golf, Racing, Soccer, the NBA and the other type of football are all present and accounted for. Networks like BT sports, NBC, Fox, Sky Sports, Star Sport, TEN and Euro Sports are all listed as well.
One of the unique features of this particular streaming app is the fact you can lock categories. This is different from a parental lock, and a good way to cut yourself (or someone else) off if streaming becomes an issue – it can definitely happen. Here are a few FileLinked codes for PTV Sport.
Show Sport TV
Whereas some sports streaming apps follow the same approach as movie apps when it comes to the layout, Show Sport TV does things differently. The layout is intentionally sparse which makes finding games simple as there are only two main areas to deal with.
Channels or Schedule are the only sections you need to think about with the Show Sport TV app. If you are a soccer fan, you will probably not move from the Schedule section. This has all the matches for each day lined out from start to finish. You can check in on games as they air or even plan ahead with notifications for any match on the schedule.
Each game has a list of channels which is where you will find the streams for live games. We’re pleased to say all the matches we tried worked, and you are able to choose the quality of the streams in some cases. You can also sort by league or browse the Channels section to find things other than soccer. At this time, there are over 100 channels listed including major players like the NFL Network, WWE, Sky, Bein, and Fox.
This one may be a little sparse compared to the rest of our picks for the top sports streaming apps, but it is reliable and well worth a look. It’s definitely one of the better apps for soccer and available through several FileLinked codes.
New movies may only come out once a week, but there can be a live sporting event airing at any given time. Is your favorite football team playing in Argentina at 3 AM your time? If you find the proper stream, time zones are no longer a problem. SportBox TV helps you get around regional restrictions and is by far the simplest option we’ve come across for sports.
When you fire up SportBox TV, you are taken to the main area which has sections for different sports networks. While they aren’t many, you will get Bein Sport, Sky Sports, BT Sports, Arena & Sport Klub, Fox Sports, Tivibu Sports, TSN Sports, PT Sports, and Live Now. As you’d expect, each section has its own set of channels.
The SportBox TV app is ad-supported, but we were able to view almost every stream we checked. That’s a rarity considering it’s hit or miss with many apps in this niche. There are no real options to speak of aside from the ability to choose your media player. If you want to score SportBox TV through FileLinked, you can use the codes below or pick up the single .apk file and sideload it from a droid.
Set up AppStarter to Easily Launch Firestick Apps
In this step, we do a few things: First we start up a replacement launcher for Firestick. Then we rearrange your apps in the launcher. Finally (in the BONUS section below), we install OnBoot to start your new launcher automatically after your Firestick starts up!
- Select the Fire Devices Only section from the APKTime home screen and install AppStarter
- Launch the AppStarter app by going to the Firestick Homescreen > Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > AppStarter > Launch Application
- Now highlight an app
- Then hold down the Center button on the Firestick remote to “long-press” on the app
- Then use the Up / Down / Left / Right buttons on the Firestick remote to move the app icon to one of the top 3 rows in AppStarter.
- Repeat until all your favorite apps are rearranged the way you want! Personally, I put the MOVIES & TV SHOW apps in the top row. In the second row, I put LIVE TV APPS, and in the third row I put MUSIC apps. In the fourth row, I put my Utilities like Downloader, APKTime, Aptoide, ES File Explorer, etc.
OnBoot BONUS: Make AppStarter Launch Automatically on Firestick:
The app OnBoot Appstarter allows you to select an app your Firestick will automatically start after Firestick starts up. This app works great from my experience. But it does take some time after your Firestick launches to auto-launch an app.
To download a WORKING version of AppStarter APK for Firestick, enter this address into Downloader: http://bit.ly/appstart40
For example, right after my Firestick shows the Firestick Homescreen it takes about 25 seconds for my Firestick to autolaunch my preferred launcher (which is AppStarter).
- Open the Downloader app
- Enter the address bit.ly/onbootfs
- Wait for the file to download and then launch
- Press Install
- Then press Open
- Now select AppStarter after the OnBoot app launches
- Restart your Firestick
- Wait 25 seconds for AppStarter to launch automatically!
Jailbreak Firestick with Kodi
The other way to can free your Firestick or Fire TV is to jailbreak Firestick apps with Kodi. As Kodi is not directly available through Amazon, you can scoop it up from Google Play and shoot it to your phone through the Downloader app or use the FileLinked code 30689042 to score a copy of Kodi.
If you are not familiar with Kodi, you are in for a nice surprise. It’s a media center in the vein of Plex and other streamers that allow you to stream your library across multiple devices. It’s also home to something called Kodi addons, which is where free content comes into play.
The Top Kodi Addons for your Firestick
Once you jailbreak Firestick Kodi app, it’s time for add-ons. Some Kodi addons are available straight away through the official Kodi repository. If you want to wade into the grey waters, you will need to download and add a repository to get those add-ons. While they are great at providing content on the fly, it pays to have several loaded as they are not as stable as a full-fledged streaming app for your Firestick.
Most are all-in-one solutions that provide you with free movies and TV shows while other focus on content for kids or sports from around the globe. We tried to include a little something for everyone with our picks although seasoned streamers will notice a lack of familiar faces.
Compared to other Kodi addons, Aragon Live puts its focus on Live TV. That’s impressive considering it’s one of the harder areas to get a handle on, and we think you will be thrilled by the rest of the content available within this app as well.
This add-on is a doozy. From within the Aragon Live section, you will find both movies and TV shows including channels from the U.S. and the UK. This area includes sections for Documentaries, Kids, Movies, Music, News, and Sports. We spent a considerable amount of time in the Documentary section and had no issues streaming from there or other areas in Aragon Live.
Rest assured, the amount of content available from that section will keep you busy for a few years, but things open up even more with Aragon Live TV. From here you can navigate by country to find foreign feeds or simply hone in on key areas like Cooking or Religion. Aragon Live is available through Blamo and If you need help getting it installed, be sure to check out our beginner’s guide to Kodi.
Neptune Rising is one of the more reliable options in the Kodi world, and it’s one we tend to turn to personally when we feel the need to stream. It’s comparable to similar movie addons for Kodi with a few notable exceptions.
One of the big draws for Neptune Rising is the way it handles feeds. While some addons throw you right into the mix or hit you with an error, this one gives you a degree of choice. How much depends on the type of content you are trying to view, but it is nice to have options. It’s also nice to have large lists of curated content.
If you enjoy Top Movie lists, you will love Neptune Rising. Critters Corner is full of goodies, and the IMDB user lists will make quick work of your free time. Other areas of interest include Playlists, Top Movies, and What the Fork? Neptune is available through several different Kodi repositories including Blamo.
The dev’s behind Maverick TV have put together an amazing little add-on that delivers in all the areas important to streamers. That means you will get a nice mix of content including free movies and TV shows to go along with some unique sections like 4K UHD.
We’re going to start with the TV side of things this time around as it’s an area where Maverick excels. You can choose from box sets featuring full seasons of current and classic shows or jump into the Music TV section if you want to get your groove on. Other interesting areas include NASA Live TV, Live Concerts, Live Webcams, World IPTV and Klassic Kids TV.
When it comes to film, movies that are playing down the road are listed alongside classics from the golden age of cinema. The aforementioned 4K UHD streaming is well worth a look if you have a top of the line TV with 4K capabilities. While it will not replace a disk, these large files can take clarity to an all new level although it may be hard to go back to those HD streams afterward.
Other Kodi addons
The add-on scene isn’t what it used to be with Kodi, but we only touched on a handful of addons that are currently available. If one of our top Kodi addons disappears, consider one of these a fine alternative for movies, TV shows, and sports.

Jailbreak Firestick with Secondary Options
Kodi and FileLinked are just two of the main ways to crack open your Amazon Firestick or the Fire TV 4K. FileLinked is the top option for ease of use, and due to the fact you do not need an extra device to install anything. While it’s ideal if you only have a Firestick, it is not going to be for everyone. That’s why we have compiled a quick list of other tools that can help you load files onto your streaming stick. We have also included several apps we feel are vital to a solid streaming experience.
Sideloading Apps & Firestick Tools
Before we get to secondary methods of sideloading, we’re going to tell you about a few apps you should always have on hand. The first would be ES File Explorer, a handy app that’s been a fan favorite for years. Simply put, this allows you to move, delete, copy and unzip files on your Fire stick or smartphone. There are a million similar apps, but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest.
There are also a hundred video players available, and you will be prompted to download one on occasion depending on the streaming app or addon. That’s not ideal, but you generally don’t have to settle on their choice or a stock app. Our top option for media players is VLC and MX Player is a close second. Again, there are other options so feel free to test the waters although you will be hard pressed to beat those two mobile apps.
If you want to send any file to your smartphone to your Firestick through the magic of Wi-Fi, it’s a very simple Firestick hack. One of our favorite apps for this is Apps2Fire. This app is simple to setup as you only need to supply the IP address of your streamer and you are good to go. After that, you can select any .apk on your handset and shoot it to your Firestick. That includes games as well as streaming apps.
As variety is the spice of life, other options to consider in the sideloading app world include the always popular Downloader app which is available directly from the Amazon App Store along with Easy Fire Tools and FireDL. The last app we want to bring up is called Mouse Toggle for Fire TV. This gives your Alexa remote a mouse mode, something you will be very thankful for with some of the free streaming apps that are geared towards touch-based devices.
Install a Browser
It’s safe to say 99% of the people that purchase Firesticks pick them up to stream Netflix or Amazon Prime content. Apps like Kodi and free movie .apks are an extra perk, and so is the ability to browse the web from the big screen. The days of Web TV are long gone, as these browsers are easy on the eyes and simple to use.
We’re going to keep this short and sweet as most browsers work in a similar fashion. That means it comes down to style and personal preference in most cases with a few unique exceptions. Outside of specialty browsers built for privacy, these are the best browsers for your jailbreak Firestick.
- CM Browser
Those are just a few Firestick browsers we think are reliable and worth a download. You can sideload all of these from Google Play with the exception of Firefox which is available from Amazon. If you prefer FileLinked, check out the codes below.
Clean out your Firestick
We have told you how to load your jailebreak Firestick up with streaming apps and even explained how you easy it is to browse the web. While those are great things to know, you need to know what to do when your favorite streamer locks up or you start to experience the dreaded buffering issues. When that happens, it may be time for a Firestick cleaning app or a factory reset.
Let’s face it; nobody wants to lose data or a half-dozen streaming apps you spent the day downloading. To make matters worse, unless you are using an app with an account, you are going to lose all those favorites you marked if something goes wrong. Firestick factory resets used to be the quickest solution, but that is not the case anymore.
If your streaming stick begins to die, the first thing you should do is check your storage space. As mentioned, they don’t come with much so you may have hit your limit. If that’s the case, use ES File Explorer to clear some room or simply uninstall any apps you don’t use or need. Alternatively, you can clear the cache for individual apps on your jailbroken Firestick or fire up an app like CCleaner.
When all else fails, check Kodi as you may need to do some spring cleaning from within that app or kill some old add-ons. A jailbreak Firestick is useless when your streaming slows to a crawl. If you are still stuck in a rut, our guide and the video below is guaranteed to get you unstuck unless you have a bricked Firestick. This FileLinked code will provide you with a few tools you may need.
Install VPN App on Firestick
If you don’t already have a VPN and stream free movies and TV shows, it might be time to consider getting one. That is especially true if you download torrents or files instead of stream – nobody wants to have their internet cut off. In the worst case scenario, you could be headed to court as the rules on streaming or downloading vary from country to country.
VPN’s generally fall into two different categories with paid and free. Obviously, you are not going to get much use from free VPN’s if you plan on streaming 24/7. There are some exceptions to that rule and mobile VPN’s to consider as well, but always keep logging policies in mind.
The point of a VPN is to hide your identity by giving replacing your IP address with a new one. While that’s the simple version of it, some may keep logs of your activities online which kind of defeats the purpose. They type of information they keep and hold long they keep it for varies, so check every VPN providers policies when it comes to logging. Whether you want to have a VPN vanish your IP or need your own private VPN servers, the options below have something for everyone.
One of the more popular choices among streamers over the past few years has been IPVanish. It’s an app we have used frequently ourselves, and one we recommend when it comes to stability and overall performance.
This VPN will keep your identity safe while you browse the web. Worried about snoopers when you are on public Wi-Fi? They have that covered as well, and its ideal for VOIP services which can save you a boatload of cash by spoofing your locale. As for that, the IPVanish provides users with more than 1,000 VPN servers in 60 countries. That’s impressive, and we can say the same for the fact you get five simultaneous connections as well.
IPVanish is a fine choice if you are in the market for a solid VPN. Pricing is fair, starting at around $6.49 per month and there is a 7-day money back guarantee in case you don’t dig the product.
Even when a VPN provider is rated as one of the top choices across the board, it’s always nice to try before you buy. PureVPN provides that with a 7-day test run or they will return your funds from whence they came. Well, get ready to kiss your cash goodbye…
PureVPN is a great VPN for your Fire stick or any other gadget in your arsenal. In fact, they advertise Amazon’s streamer on their main page, so you know their VPN is built for the stick. Compatibility aside, the company gives you the freedom to go where you want online without fear of regional restrictions or letters from your internet provider.
With 180 server locations worldwide in over 140 countries, PureVPN has solid numbers. While they aren’t at the top of the charts in that regard, you will appreciate the features. You can log in with up to five devices and get unlimited bandwidth, whether you do a jailbreak firestick or not. You will be able to stream until you drop but can also choose how to direct your data through split tunneling. With affordable pricing starting at $2.47 per month, it’s one you should definitely consider.
Private Internet Access
Consumers in the market for a reliable VPN service that won’t break the bank need look no further than Private Internet Access. They tend to have the best prices on the market at any given time and are ideal if you’re looking to jailbreak Firestick apps. While you may think that means it’s light on features, we’re pleased to say that is not the case at all.
Private Internet Access prices begin at only $2.91 per month when you sign up for a 2-year deal. For some providers, that would be an issue, but not this one as that’s only $69.95 upfront. Yearly plans are just as solid at only $40 per year, or you can go monthly for $6.95 per month. The pricing is definitely nice, but not the only reason you should consider this VPN.
Like IPVanish, you will get five simultaneous connections to go along with unlimited bandwidth and a no logging policy. There are a whopping 28 countries in their arsenal with more than 3,000 servers. We also appreciate the fact you can pay anonymously, something you can’t do with other top-tier VPNs, and the company takes gift cards from other companies to boot!
Connect Firestick to Plex
Plex is an app you won’t have to sideload or read a manual to install it on your Firestick. That’s because Amazon made this one easy to get by putting it in their App Store. While the Plex app is only a few clicks away, connected Firesticks to Plex is easier said than done for new users.
Basically, you can install the free Plex app even without the need to jailbreak Firestick. Then you just need to set up a Plex server on another device.
If you are unfamiliar with Plex, here’s the scoop. This is a streaming app, but one built to work with your library of media along with selected providers like CBS and Euronews. It’s like Kodi in the sense that it acts as a media hub, but that is where the similarities end.
Now that you know a little about what Plex can do, you may want to set up a media server of your own. We have a guide that will show you how to install a Plex media server on Raspberry Pi, a gadget that has become increasingly popular with Kodi users and media streamers that want total control of their content. It’s not your usual type of jailbreak Firestick app, but a great one to have on hand nonetheless.

- Android devices are generally very easy to jailbreak. There’s usually a Setting in the Android Settings area to enable apps from unknown sources. To enable this feature is to jailbreak Android devices.
